My Favorite Gear, Part 1

width=500 I have a lot quite a bit of gear...but not all gear is the same, of course. Depending on whether I’m hunting or fishing, I have some trinkets and tools that I don’t mind leaving at home, and then I have favorites that I don’t go into the wild without. For the next few weeks, I’m going to try to highlight some different items as part of a My Favorite Gear series. Here’s where you come in. Some of my stuff is antiquated, or possibly inferior to what you currently use. If so, tell me about it! I’m all about making life easier and more enjoyable when I’m outside. On that note, I’d like to post some favorites from our members. If you have a few favorite pieces of gear, make a list, give me two or three sentences on why each particular piece of gear is your favorite, and e-mail it to me at generationwild@gmail.com. Then, I’ll post your name and list for everyone to see. After a few weeks, we’ll throw the names of everyone who participated in a hat and draw for a prize. This time we'll have three—count 'em three—winners, who will each get a RedHead Deluxe Gear Bag (above) from Bass Pro Shops. Each bag is embroidered with the Generation Wild logo. That said, let’s get the ball rolling: My first favorite piece of gear has been a solid friend to my feet all through hunting season—my boots. I’ve had some bad pairs in the past, but this year I spent more money than I’ve ever spent on my feet and it was a decision well worth the expense. Archery season, rifle season,  even trekking through the snow this winter—they performed flawlessly. Anyone else have some footwear (socks or boots) that made the miles a little easier to tackle this year? Let’s hear it! —Ben
