Federal’s line of self-defense ammunition, Guard Dog, feature expanding-full-metal-jacket (EMFJ) bullets that are filled with a semi-soft polymer. Each bullet expands identically along scored lines in the jacket. It has the benefits of a hollow-point bullet, without the risk of debris getting caught in the hollow, causing it to not expand. EMFJs are often legal in areas where hollow-point ammo is not.
