81-Year-Old Has Bagged Over 500 Gobblers

_”Addicted” might have negative connotations in some references, but not when it comes to turkey hunting for 81-year-old Earl Groves. More than 50 years after hearing his first gobble he’s still loving every minute of it and can’t get enough. . . .

_He was written up in Turkey Call Magazine in 2006 when he killed his 500th bird. Since that time he’s added another 58 to that total.

“And that’s strictly longbeard, adult gobblers, as that’s all I hunt,” Groves said of his personal challenge. “I don’t shoot jakes and I don’t shoot hens where they’re legal.
