Sticking with the bear theme, an Oregon-based group called Big Wildlife is publicly condemning Washington’s black bear hunt, taking particular aim at the spring season.
From the Seattle Post Intelligencer:
_”Killing bears in the spring inevitably leads to orphaned cubs, who are still nursing at the time,” the group said in a statement. “These cubs, unable to survive on their own, are left to starve to death, or be killed by predators.”
“Shockingly, there are no legal prohibitions on killing bears with cubs in Washington. . . .”
