_An Ottawa County teacher on a hunting vacation was hit by lightning and died in the Gila National Forest, according to the New Mexico State Police.
_Harry “Butch” Beggerly, 61, of Miami, died Sunday evening while hunting near Quemado Lake. . . .
_Beggerly took the blunt end of the strike which knocked him onto his back . . . .
_[T]he lightning strike caused [hunting partner Shannon] Thomas to loose feelings in his legs; but, despite his own injures crawled over to Beggerly’s body and attempted CPR. . . .
When first responders arrived, both men were taken by ambulance to Springerville, Ariz., where Beggerly was pronounced dead.
