In addition to hunting, there is one other passion that distracts me on autumn weekends. For better or worse (and this week it was worse), I was born a fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. This past weekend, I stayed out of the woods and instead had a game-day get-together with a group of old friends in the shadow of Lincoln’s Memorial Stadium.

I have put the results of last Saturday’s game in a deep, dark place inside me, never to be spoken of again. But what I will remember is the good times with good friends. We also had some good, traditional tailgating fare, enjoying the fruits of our fall with venison brats and burgers cooked over a charcoal grill. Some of the fans around us were obviously professional pre-gamers, with massive smokers stacked with ribs, brisket, and other barbecue that would’ve made Bobby Flay proud.
I realized I need to up my game when it comes to the game-day eating experience and am turning to you for advice. Who is your team and how does fish or game fits into your football experience?
