Whether you lean left or right, the political irony here is rich. On one side of the spectrum, you have Mama Griz, outspoken defender of sportsman’s rights and open critic of NPR. On the other, you have NPR, long-standing pillar of what many Americans rightly or wrongly describe as the liberal media.

Both have given our sport a national audience this month. The first via TLC’s “Sarah Palin’s Alaska,” in which the former governor drops a caribou on her 6th shot, video of which can be seen over at the Field Notes blog.

The latter via today’s Morning Edition in a segment profiling 15-year-old cheerleader and deer hunter Magan Hebert of Waynesboro, Mississippi (shown with a spike buck she took this fall).

Check it out here and then tell us what you think: Who did a better job of presenting our sport to the public, Sarah Palin or NPR?
