As many of you already know, the Great Lakes had a record amount of ice this year thanks to the extreme cold of this nasty winter. Well, the shipping industry has been sitting idle long enough. Time for the U.S. Coast Guard to step in. This video gives you a close-up view of how one of their cutters just obliterates ice that's five feet thick in some places, which sometimes requires the 4 million-pound ship to back up and go full-on ramming speed.
