With all the hearty things you can cook up in camp, it might be easy to forget about a sweet treat to cap off your fireside feast. But desserts needn’t be an afterthought, says Steve McGrath, Camp Chef marketing manager (campchef.com), who serves up these delicious, and easy, dessert ideas.
Blueberry-Muffin Oranges
Pour prepared muffin mix into half of a hollowed-out orange. Place the other empty half over the top, wrap everything tightly in tinfoil, and bake directly in a bed of hot coals for 10 to 15 minutes.
Quesadilla S’mores
“No campfires allowed? No problem,” says McGrath. Place a handful each of chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, and honey-flavored Teddy Grahams between two flour tortillas. Toast on a hot nonstick griddle, flipping once, until the inside is melted.
Dutch Oven Dump Cobbler
As the name suggests, dump three cans of pie filling, two boxed cake mixes, a stick of sliced butter, and 2 cups of lemon-lime soda into a 12-inch Dutch oven. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour. “One of the easiest desserts I make–and the most popular.”
