Yes it works great in the morning if you just happen to catch it at the right place at the right time. I would use it right when it gets light enough so you can see to shoot. Do it in series (sets) call about 3 times in a series with about 5 seconds in between each call. then if nothing has happend in an hour or 2 start another series. Dont make the grunt sound the same mix it up each time you call with short and longer grunts.
Mornings are good grunt times. Just as shooting light gets there I do a call set. and use a doe bleat. Wait for about 2 min if I dont hear anything I use my other grunt a deeper one and then do a dual with both grunts the doe bleat and rattle bag. Then quiet for a few min listen for any movement glass the ridges. If theres a buck in the area he usually will come over to check it out. If nothin I wait for 30-45 min and do another set.

Use it throughout the day about every 20-30 minutes.
