does anyone know how to cook drum fish? i catch alot of them but don't know what to do them.

Drum are one of the better meats. They keep well for a longer period on ice than some of your other fish. They have a lot of bones! You do not have to, but I recomend that you cut the vein line comletely out of the fillets. Make long stips following the natural grain of the meat, and soak in buttermilk over night, I like to add crystal hot sause to the buttermilk. Then I mix up 1part white flour to 2 parts yellow corn meal. Add salt and black peper, parsley flakes and ground dill weed. I take the fish strips out of the buttermilk, salt them and sprinkle ground reed peper on them, then roll in the corn meal mixture and fry. I use peanut oil to fry in. A note, most good ground red peper is ground without the seeds, where cayenne is usually ground with the seeds in.

I am sorry about my spelling *red pepper* and *pepper*, my tongue got in front of my eye teeth from the thought of frying fish and I couldn't see what I was typewriting. It is also common to substitute drum and sheep head for red fish (red drum) in blacken red fish dishes.

throw 'em back they are not good just crap fish. catch some walleye or something good and eat those

I used to catch Black Drums south of the Mobile Bay causeway when the water wuz a lot cleaner.

I know of two ways to cook them (standard cuz they tastes good ennyhow).

Cut them into fillets and slice them and put butter in the slices.

Squeeze lemon juice on them and add salt.

Broil until tender.

Or you can cut the fillets into large chunks and deep fry them in corn meal batter.

They're great!

While I did not give 'Nebraskahunter18' any of his well deserved minus 1's, I can tell you he doesn't know squat about fine eating fish! (although a walleye is one of the best eating fish anywhere)

That would be saltwater drum, not a freshwater variety...
