I just picked up a Spanish Mauser ($75); I only know it's a Spanish mauser by googling the stamp on the receiver "Fabrica De Armas" and "La Caruna" 1947.
It looks all original- no sporterizing, tapping, etc. and stamped numbers match.
Can anyone provide me with insight on history, accuracy, value, safety (I heard not to use factory ammo on these as they may have weak actions- which is weird, because a mauser shouldn't have a weak anything!). To be honest, I did buy it as a "turn-around$" because I'm building the treasure trove for a another rifle (maybe something small and fast). The seller did say it was an 8mm (and it's stamped 7.92 on the side of the receiver). The one thing that I found odd was the fact that there are two sets of sling 'swivels'- one set for a side-mount and another for typical bottom- is this normal? (they both look original) Thanks!
