Q:
I have a Remington 887 with a smooth barrel. If I shot a 3in sabot slug out of the barrel with out a rilfed choke and use the factory tube, how will it effect the accuracy? I want to use the gun tonight for deer.

Buy a box of rifled slugs you would have a hard time with sabots without a rifled barrle.
I would go with rifled slugs. Thats what I shoot out of my 12ga smooth barrel. The sabots work but are not as accurate. They are geared more towards the rifled barrel. I have tried both and now buy the rifled ones.
You shouldn't shot the sabot's out of a smooth barrel. They won't get the proper spin to them and, therefore the accuracey will be less than desirable. I would go with a rifled slug. If you have time try different brands and different oz shots. Each shoots a little different in each gun. I hunt in a shot gun zone in MN, so I have a lot of experience with different types of slugs. On the plus side the rifled slugs are cheaper!
