Rifles

30 TC reloads

Uploaded on February 03, 2009

Was lucky and won a Thompson Center rifle in 30TC at a hunter club fund raising. I have not seen any articles on this caliber 30TC in gun magazines. It seems like a nice round but obviously has not caught on and may be dead already. Hornady is the only manufactor of this cartridge, at least the only one I have found. I have not found any information about reloading the 30TC, so if anyone has experince with this round or knows where I can find reloading information please pass it along. The rifle is very nice and the caliber seems OK also, would like to keep the rifle but no good with out ammo.

Good caliber, but good luck getting ammo or anything for it. I would get that thing re-chambered, because it's a great rifle with a doomed caliber.

Don't think you have looked too hard for ammo or info. on this caliber. Don't believe any of the posts you read about it being obsolete either. I shoot a .30 TC and it is the most accurate and fun to shoot weapon I have ever owned. I killed 6 deer with it this past season. All one shot kills. All ammo is in short supply right now. Last time I checked though, Cabelas had all you wanted of 30TC and I buy it locally on a regular basis. Reloading info. is readily available but you will not be able to reproduce the 3000 plus fps available in the factory 150gr. ammo nor will you be able to improve upon it. Hang on to that treasure. You will be glad you did.

It may be great now, but 20-30 years from now? I doubt it will be around much, if at all by then.

Hate to tell you Shane but 20-30 yrs. from now I am afraid shooting will be pretty much a thing of the past. Especially if idiots keep electing people to office like our current crop.

Bought an Icon last year in the 30TC and was very happy with the accuracy and handle of the rifle. Ammo is easy to get but wish could get other than sts bullets.. a little to explosive on white tail deer. Need good shot placement.. Am glad I have one. Will reload for it if the come out with the new poweder hornady has developed for it.
